We really enjoyed doing The Digestive System demonstration in class. Well most of us, some of us thought it was a bit too disgusting and didn't want to look at the last part. Firstly, we put a slice of bread into each sandwich bag (to contain the mess!) and used our hands to tear the bread into small chunks. Then we used our hands to squish the chucks of bread together. Mrs Hurst added some of her water to act as saliva. We then had another go at squishing the bread with our hands. All of these steps were to demonstrate the job of the mouth, teeth and tongue in the first stage of the digestive system. As you can see, we all enjoyed having a go at this. It was fun participating in something hands on, to support the learning that had taken place previously where we had learned about the various stages of the Digestive System. Calm Me!

We have been training our bodies and minds since September to become more still and mindful during our Calm Me sessions. We always have an image on the screen that we can focus on if we would like to, and this is linked to the calming music that is playing. Some of us like to keep our eyes open, others like to close their eyes and lay their heads on the table in front of us. We then do some basic breathing exercises to help calm our bodies and minds.
